Fierce and brave. As resilient as life in the Chihuahuan desert. She, a gift to Doña Ana. We honor her.
Desert Heroines is a photo project by NMCO Studio and Success Partnership that honors and showcases individuals in Doña Ana County who are making moves, creating legacies, and uplifting the community around them. Each year Desert Heroines opens the project for public nomination, where you can nominate a heroine for their special endeavors in our county. We then select 5 individuals to take part in a one-of-a-kind photoshoot.
We partner with makeup artists, stylists, props, and more to create a photo experience that most people wouldn’t typically have the opportunity to be a part of. The selected individuals are a star for a day on our special shoot, but a star always in their community.
Photos are released along with the nationally (and internationally recognized), Women’s History Month and Women’s Day in March.
Portraits encapsulate the essence and resilience of individuals and honor a time in history and place. ‘Desert Heroines’ embodies this strength through a captivating photo project. This Women’s History Month initiative illuminates women’s remarkable stories and contributions within our community, sharing their unique journeys to everyone.
Each portrait becomes a testament to their courage, determination, and invaluable impact, celebrating the diverse narratives that enrich our shared history in Doña Ana County.
